About the Continuing Education Program

The continuing education and outreach program of the Center for Watershed Stewardship at Penn State offers short courses, seminars, and conferences for practicing professionals and community leaders on a wide variety of watershed-related topics, such as:

  • Stream corridor management and restoration
  • Community land use planning and design
  • GIS applications for watershed planning and management
  • Non-profit organizational development and fiscal administration
  • Group facilitation and consensus building
  • Legal and institutional aspects
  • Water quality management for rural and urban watersheds
  • Natural processes in watersheds (e.g. hydrology, ecology)
  • Wetland restoration and design
  • Fisheries restoration and enhancement

Specific courses will be designed to accomodate a diverse range of participants including landscape architects, community planners, watershed association and land trust staff, community volunteers and activists, natural resource managers, regulatory agency personnel and environmental consultants, designers, and engineers.
