Tom is a proud graduate of the Class of ‘76, having survived the final years of the old design studio in the Sackett Building loft and Dan Jones’ first year as a professor! Upon graduation, Tom received the Landscape Architecture Department Creative Design Citation.
Following three years at Zion & Breen Associates, Tom started the design firm of Melillo & Bauer Associates in 1979. Today, MBA is a 25-person landscape architecture firm located in Manasquan, N.J., proud to have employed dozens of Penn State alumni [six at present], including his partner’s son. In addition, Tom’s stepson is a student in the department.
MBA has garnered many design awards, including the ULI Project of theYear, Pier Village, in 2006.
Tom has served on many civic boards, including NJ-ASLA [President], Coalition of Design Professionals [President], and NJ Past Presidents’ Committee [Chair].
As a Nittany Lion Club member and season ticket holder, Tom and his family are true Penn State fans. Married to his wife, Jackie, they have four children, Austin [20], Ian [19], Shannon [9] and Spencer [7]. |
