The chart below
provides links to tuition costs. It also directs you to Penn State
tuition calculators that will assess your costs based on your
individual needs.
Additional Program Expenses
In addition to the costs shown on the charts, students will incur
additional surcharges and expenses that are specific to the Major
of Landscape Architecture. The faculty of Penn State’s Department
of Landscape Architecture have devised the finest educational offering
we could conceive in our five-year undergraduate program. We acknowledge
that educational opportunity has a price—the best cannot also be the
least expensive.
To help you plan for expenditures, we offer the following information
on required expenses.
** These are additional to the typical expenses for general cost
of attendance at Penn State, and to various field trips and other
items required in specific courses.
First
Year, Spring Semester
In this semester students begin to develop knowledge and skills
in graphic communication; consequently, purchase of “start-up” equipment
is necessary.
Approximate cost: $150 - $200
*Please note: You will find that studio project
supplies will need to be replenished on an ongoing basis. Expenditure
of $30 - $100 per semester on supplies is not uncommon.

Second
Year, Spring Semester

the second-year class takes a five-day field trip immediately following

LArch 444.
Approximate cost: $225 - $275
Third Year, Fall Semester, through Fifth Year, Spring Semester
In order for students to have cutting-edge computer hardware and
software available twenty-four hours a day in our labs and designated
studios, all students pay an academic computing fee to the department
beginning in the third year.
Cost: $255 per semester, billed by the registrar
Fourth Year, Spring Semester
To challenge students with an experience in another country, all
students travel to Rome to study urban design for the full spring
semester of the fourth year.
Approximate cost: An additional $2,500 - $3,500 above cost of attendance
at University Park (includes airfare).
