Study Abroad
Structure

Facilities:

Each spring, the entire Fourth-year undergraduate landscape architeture class, plus two faculty leave University Park and relocate in Rome for the semester. There they enjoy the studio facilities of Sede di Roma, located in the Palazzo Doria Pamphili in the heart of historic Rome. Housing is available to all students through Sede di Roma. In short, students and faculty enjoy the experience of a Penn State campus abroad.

Courses:

In the spring of that 4th year, all landscape architecture students are required to take the following courses in Rome.

Design and Theory Studio 4 credits/8 contact hours per week
Seminar 1 credit/1-2 contact hours per week
Design Implementation (detail design) 3 credits/6 contact hours per week
Contemporary International Special Topics 4 credits/4-8 contact hours per week
Totaling 12 credits/19-24 contact hours per week

Students are additionally invited to take the three-credit Italian language course offered through Penn State's Department of Architecture. Finally, students are invited to participate in activities and courses required of the architecture students, and vice versa.
