Bowers Program In 1994, Raymond A. Bowers (B.S. AE, 1931) established an endowment to fund the Raymond A. Bowers Program for Excellence in Design and Construction of the Built Environment. The purpose of the program is to "promote the development and continuous improvement of a working partnership between the departments of architectural engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture to better prepare graduates of Penn State to become leaders in design and construction." The Bowers Program sponsors interdisciplinary activities such as joint courses and lectures, visiting professionals in residence, and seminars. The Program insures that Penn State will maintain a continuous focus on the benefits of a cross-disciplinary team approach to educating young professionals to enter the complex and ever-changing design/construction industry. Students of landscape architecture have the opportunity to take greatest advantage of the Bowers Program in the fourth or fifth year of the undergraduate program, when studio options and electives occur. |
