Students
enrolled at Penn State
Students enrolled at Penn State who wish
to enter the landscape architecture program must apply directly
to the Department of Landscape Architecture. These students
must follow the "Change of Major" procedure, which
includes submission of creative work and essays between January
1 and February 15.
Change of Major Process
Students desiring to be considered for a change of major to
landscape architecture must submit a presentation of creative
work and two 500-word essays.
More detailed information on what to include in the creative work portfolio and essay can be found here.
Selection Process
The quality of the creative work and essays will be determinants
in the decision. Space available in the program will determine
the number of students who will be offered admission. Submissions
will be received anytime between January 1 and February 15 (if February
15 falls on a Saturday, submissions will be accepted until
5:00 p.m. the following Monday). Students who are accepted
will enter the program in the following fall semester.
In all cases, students selected via this
process must understand that the bachelor of landscape architecture
professional degree program requires a minimum of four years
of design in studio courses in addition to at least one year
of previous college-level education. It is not possible to
accelerate the curriculum sequence.
Students who have submitted the change-of-major
requirements will be notified of the decision in writing by April 1. Students who have been accepted and offered the opportunity
to enter landscape architecture will be informed of the procedures
to follow. NOTE: Students receiving favorable consideration
from the faculty review committee must have a 2.00 or better
grade-point average. |
