Bachelor of Landscape Architecture
Admission Requirements: Advanced Standing Transfer

Students Enrolled at Other Universities
Students enrolled at other universities who wish to enter the landscape architecture program must submit an application to undergraduate admissions by December 31.

In addition, students must submit creative work and essays between January 1 and February 15 to:

Department of Landscape Architecture
Attn: Admissions Review Committee

121 Stuckeman Family Building
University Park, PA 16802-1921
(see advanced standing/transfer process below for details).

Students receiving favorable consideration from the faculty review committee must meet the minimum qualifications for admission to the University. The decision to admit the applicant is made by the admissions office.

Advanced Standing/Transfer Process
Students desiring to be considered for advanced standing/transfer into landscape architecture must submit an advanced standing/transfer admission application to the Undergraduate Admissions Office (address is listed below). The deadline for application is December 31.

Students must submit to the Department of Landscape Architecture a presentation of creative work and two 500-word essays between January 1 and February 15.

Detailed information on the creative work and essays can be found here.

See the Penn State admissions department's Web site to apply to the University and for more information on undergraduate admissions requirements and procedures.

Selection Process
The quality of the creative work and essays will be determinants in the decision. Space available in the program will determine the number of students who will be offered admission. Submissions will be received anytime between January 1 and February 15 (if February 15 falls on a Saturday, submissions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. the following Monday). Students who are accepted will enter the program in the following fall semester.

Students selected via this process must understand that the bachelor of landscape architecture professional degree program requires a minimum of four years of design in studio courses in addition to at least one year of previous college-level education. It is not possible to accelerate the curriculum sequence.

Students who have submitted the advanced standing/transfer requirements will be notified of the decision in writing by April 1. Students who have been accepted and offered the opportunity to enter landscape architecture will be informed of the procedures to follow.

NOTE: Students receiving favorable consideration from the faculty review committee must meet the minimum qualifications for admission to the University. The decision to admit the applicant is made by the Admissions Office.
