Introduction
It is the expectation of the B.L.A./M.L.A. program that many or
all of the general education requirements currently stipulated by
Penn State will have been met during the applicant’s prior
undergraduate work. Each applicant’s academic record will
be carefully evaluated by the College’s Office of Undergraduate
Studies/Associate Dean and the department to ensure that it achieves
a high degree of equivalency with current Penn State general education
criteria. Once this process is successfully completed, incoming
B.L.A./M.L.A. students may be given recognition for up to 46 credits
of general education.
Furthermore, because prospective B.L.A./M.L.A.
students will already have achieved an undergraduate major, they
will be released from the department requirement of 18 credits of
free electives required of regular B.L.A. students.
