The B.L.A. / M.L.A. Program
B.L.A. Core Sequence of Courses and Other Requirements of the Major

Introduction
It is a primary objective of the B.L.A./M.L.A. program that the student achieve a high level of equivalency with the regular 156 credit B.L.A. program. The following strategy achieves this objective.

Tables 1 and 2 below show the intended sequence of landscape architecture courses and electives or remedials. It essentially follows the current sequence of core course requirements of the regular five year B.L.A. program, but takes advantages of several efficiencies provided through the Integrated Undergraduate-Graduate program at Penn State University.

Twelve credits are shown as double counting between the B.L.A. and M.L.A. programs (see Table 1, in italics). Other non-landscape architecture courses required by the major are shown in Table 2. Twenty-six credits have been identified as essential to the fundamental B.L.A. component. All B.L.A./M.L.A. students must ensure that these non-landscape architecture course requirements are achieved, either through prior studies or as electives/remedials taken during years one through three. The department and the B.L.A./M.L.A. advisor will individually evaluate incoming students to ensure the intent of the non-landscape architecutre course sequence is maintained.
