Tuition
Undergraduate tuition rates will apply as long as the student is
in the undergraduate portion of the B.L.A./M.L.A. program. An exception
to this is when a student receives financial support in the form
of a Teaching Assistantship requiring the payment of graduate tuition.
Assistantships
The Department will generally not offer assistantships to students
in their first year, since it is logical that incoming B.L.A./M.L.A.
students
take the courses prior to serving as Teaching Assistants in them.
Students in IUG status are eligible for Teaching Assistants and
Research Assistants upon completion of the first year, and will
be in competition for such positions with the regular graduate
students.
An exception to this may be for Research Assistantships; if a faculty
member has external funding that includes Research Assistant support,
it may be desirable to offer the assistantship to an incoming student
whose expertise fits that need.
Fellowships
Since Penn
State University IUG students are eligible for all graduate
student privileges, the Department may present their credentials
for competition for Graduate Student Fellowships at the beginning
of their fifth semester in the program for fellowships that would
begin in the 6th semester (the point at which the IUG students
enter
the Master’s component of the B.L.A./M.L.A. program). |
